Born to Knit Workshops
‘Born to Knit’ runs day-time and evening knitting and crochet workshops offering tuition in everything from casting-on and cable patterns to colour work.
Whether you're a complete beginner or wanting to learn new techniques, Born to Knit can help!
Knit your own Socks or a Giant Christmas Stocking!
Tuesday 6th November and Tuesday 20th November 2018 7 - 9.30pm
Join this fun, two-part workshop and learn how to make your own socks ‘in the round’ - either on double-pointed needles or a specially-designed circular needle - which means that there is absolutely no sewing up to be done afterwards!
Participants can choose from a wide selection of self-patterning sock wool, which does the colourwork for you, or alternatively opt for a thicker yarn to make one giant sock to use as a Christmas stocking with contrast heel and toe.
Tuesday 13th November 7 - 9.30pm
This Workshop will help ensure that your finished knitting project looks its very best and reflects the time and enthusiasm you put into making it.
The evening covers...
- Blocking and pressing
- Sewing up seams
- Picking up stitches to make neck- and button-bands
- Making horizontal and vertical buttonholes.
Crochet a Robin NEW
Friday 30th November 10.30 - 4.00pm
This whole day workshop will cover the techniques used in Japanese amigurumi crochet - making an adjustable ring, working in the round, increasing/decreasing and changing colours… to make a cheerful robin to hang on the Christmas tree! Suitable for anyone with some experience of crochet.
Knit a Bobble Hat NEW
Tuesday 4th December 7 - 9.30pm
Learn to knit in the round to make a wooly hat for the winter. Choose from a range of wool weights and colours to match your outfit, or as a gift for Christmas, and complete with a faux fur pompom. A quick and easy knit, with no sewing up!
This workshop is suitable for novice knitters who are happy with casting in and off, and knit and purl stitches.
One -to-One Tuition
If you are unable to come to a workshop on a particular date, Heather does offer one-to-one tuition which she can tailor to whatever you are interested in learning.
Knit and Knatter Group
The B2K K&K is an opportunity for knitters of all ages and levels of experience to get together informally over a cup of tea/coffee for a Knit and a Knatter. These are purely social gatherings so no tuition is provided. For those wanting to learn to knit, or a little refresher on certain techniques, please have a look at our workshops page. Or why not book some friendly one-to-one tuition with Heather for as little as £7.50 per 15 mins at the Born to Knit studio at Fisherton Mill.
Heather runs two ‘Knit & Knatter’ groups, both in Salisbury. For information about dates, times and arrangements, please see the Born to Knit website.
