The power of three

Three West Country artists have joined forces to put on an exhibition here with us this Autumn.  They work in a range of styles and the show will be a great opportunity to see how different artists respond to the challenges posed by capturing different moods and subject matters in paint.

Amanda Gentle will be showcasing a selection of her landscape paintings with subjects ranging from wild hedgerows to Autumn skies. She says, 'I spend a lot of time out in the countryside walking and a major part of my inspiration comes from the changing seasons and my emotional response to them.

Chris Pickard is also influenced by the Wiltshire landscape and he says 'I am inspired by the changing light of the seasons, the interplay between light and dark and the ever-shifting colours through the year.' His picture Light and Dark on Abbey Walk, with its subtle mix of shadow and sunlight, is typical of his work.

New Forest-based Rod Hague's work is in marked contrast to that of his two fellow exhibitors as he is an abstract artist. The paintings he will be showing are worked in bold slabs of colour, and are primarily influenced by heavy industry, although other influences include tribal art and medieval images.

Admission free. Opening hours: Monday-Friday, 10am-5pm; Saturday, 9.30am-5.30pm

Please note that our Main Gallery on the first floor is reached by a staircase and so is not accessible for people using wheelchairs or mobility scooters.
