Gutterman's Secret Streets

An enthralling exhibition of original oils and acrylics by Pamela Legg

Saturday 3rd August to Saturday 31st August 2024

Fisherton Mill is delighted to welcome Somerset-based artist Pamela Legg to the Main Gallery with her latest collection of uniquely styled paintings, each piece featuring a Dickensian styled character of her own creation who wears a rather fine black top hat.

Follow the 'Gutterman', as he is known, and explore the secret streets from his world in this series of original oil and acrylic paintings. Discover hidden mice, a sneaky thief, a lone Tom cat and many many tiny eyes all peeking out from between the brickwork. All of these hidden features can be found in the details of these fun and illustrative paintings.

Although born in Somerset Pamela lived in the Highlands of Scotland for the early years of her life before returning to Somerset to be nearer to family.

After leaving school early at 14 she worked for many years for the RSPCA until deciding to pursue her passion for cartoons by studying Animation at the University West of England in Bristol. After gaining a BA Hons degree in the subject she returned to her love of painting and created 'The Gutterman', so called from the first work featuring him where he was shown stood under a broken gutter leaking the rain water onto his hat.

Her trademark Gutterman character has featured in many bespoke commissioned pieces for local businesses and charities. Don't miss this brilliantly quirky collection of work showing for four weeks in August.
