Spire
An exhibition featuring work by Nick Andrew

"Drawing has always been an important part of my life. A passion and a need. A means of getting to know the world around me. Over the past few years I have worked on a number of plein air drawing projects to explore a particular theme over a period of time."
During 2020 and 2021, Nick Andrew made a series of mixed media drawings, exploring the life of the historical Salisbury Charter Market. This collection was exhibited at Fisherton Mill Gallery, Salisbury in Sept 2021 in an exhibition titled 'A Gap in the Market'.
Since Jan 2022, he has been working on a project called SPiRE: a series of plein air drawings, looking back at Salisbury Cathedral spire from as far as possible beyond the city, from 32 compass points. Most are inspired by the stunning wider landscape around Salisbury through the seasons. Each drawing also has a written narrative of things experienced while Nick was there, such as wildlife, sounds, the weather and more. These works will form the exhibition here at Fisherton Mill in 2023.
